Login and Registration Issues

Why can't I log in?
Have you registered? Seriously, you must register in order to log in. Have you been banned from the board (a message will be displayed if you have)? If so, you should contact the webmaster or board administrator to find out why. If you have registered and are not banned and you still cannot log in then check and double-check your username and password. Usually this is the problem; if not, contact the board administrator - they may have incorrect configuration settings for the board. Back to top
I've lost my password!
Don't panic! While your password cannot be retrieved it can be reset. To do this go to the login page and click I've forgotten my password. Follow the instructions and you should be back online in no time. Back to top
I registered but cannot log in!
First check that you are entering the correct username and password. If they are okay then it may be that your account needs activating. This website requires all new registrations to be activated by the administrator before you can log in. If you were sent an email then follow the instructions; if you did not receive the email then check that your email address is valid. One reason for participatory activation is to reduce the possibility of rogue users abusing the board anonymously. If you are sure the email address you used is valid then try contacting the website administrator by clicking this link: E-mail website administrator. Back to top
I registered in the past but cannot log in anymore!
The most likely reasons for this: you entered an incorrect username and/or password (check the email you were sent when you first registered). Back to top

Basic tennets of Writers Nexus

Some of the more common questions we are asked about how Writers' Nexus International functions, and issues regarding publishing, are answered below.

How do I get published?
There are a variety of methods for getting your work into print. Most require significant research and development of the basic links which will alert a publisher that your work is available. At Writers' Nexus International we undertake to position your work with the most suitable agent or publisher, essentially making the contacts for you.
E-publishing (free) through Writers Nexus offers the option to publish your work on the web so gaining immediate income from each copy of your work sold. Until recently this form of publishing tended to be presented in the form of a writer’s blog. Audio publishing allows for customers to download your work as an audio file - you will needt to have your work professionally read through by actorsor competent friends!

Alternative methods of getting into print are self-publishing, which has been proven to work but which requires the writer to act as proof-reader, copywriter, agent and publisher.

The limitations to self-publishing are in the quality of specialist skills the writer will have to accrue, and the cost. Usually self-publishing only produces a limited run of copies to a specialist retail outlet.

How do I find a literary agent?

Literary agents are listed in various journals available to the public as well as internet sites and trade magazines. There are national bodies for agents in the UK and USA. Much of the information about which agent to approach in the initial instance can be gleaned from these; however, information is often out of date; agents may change their subscription requirements, and often have a full complement of writers; and none of this information is available on a day-to-day basis. Writers' Nexus International has links to over 3,000 registered agents and publishers who will choose writers' work which suits their literary criteria.

How do I find a publisher?
As with agents, publishers are listed in various journals available to the public as well as trade magazines and internet sites. Publishers are very specific about what genre of work they will accept and usually prefer to receive advice about work from an agent (see above). Writers' Nexus International has links to over 3,000 registered agents and publishers who will choose writers' work which suits their literary criteria. Other writers will have had similar experiences to yours - get in touch with them through our forum or through a local writers' circle or group.

Tradition and evolution.

Over the last 200 years or so established procedures have been developed which allow writers to bring work to the attention of publishers. These traditional methods of making contact have in the past served extremely well. However access for a massive number of people worldwide to the technology of immediate communication and information has asked questions about the capability of existing methods to deal with the volume and quality of literary work generated. As more individuals are educated, and write works of literature, analysis or opinion, the literary world has struggled to nurture this massive pool of talent.

Writers' Nexus International has been designed to build into a library, containing contact details, synopses and extracts of writers' work. The concept behind the project is that it is in the interests of all parties in the literary world for new writers' work to be easily available to publishers and agents for instant initial review and assessment. The system has been developed along the lines of a traditional library so that it is easy for writers to place their work on the site and for publishers, agents, readers et al to access the work quickly and effectively.
